Automated ATES (Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale) models — research products, not
operational terrain ratings. v3.0 is calibrated on western Canada data and has not
been validated here. Terrain: USGS LiDAR (Colorado NW 2020, Wyoming South-Central 2020, Colorado 2016 on the Flat Tops), resampled to 10 m and 5 m; where no LiDAR exists (see layer) the 10 m USGS DEM is used. Forest: NLCD Tree Canopy Cover 2021. NW Colorado sections are added as they finish (see "processed so far"); the 10 m map is finished first, then 5 m. Where no 5 m run exists yet the 5 m view shows the 10 m Flat Tops map. Earlier runs and the Flat Tops map are shown where the new runs do not cover them. Classifier: autoATES v3.0 dev8 (Oct 2026).
